“to grow a community of leaders committed to equity for children, by recruiting and developing exceptional people to teach and lead across Australia.”
Almost one third of children from the lowest socio-economic household start school unprepared in at least one key area of child development. This gap is often sustained and sometimes widens over the course of a child’s education. The consequences for children are significant leading to severely limited life opportunities and many adverse impacts.
TFA aims to contribute to and address this challenge by growing a community of leaders committed to equity for children, by recruiting and developing exceptional people to teach and lead in schools based in lower-socio economic areas across Australia.
Over the last 11 years, TFA has placed 968 teachers in disadvantaged schools across Victoria and Western Australia. The program is also currently being expanded to South Australia and New South Wales.
We believe TFA have an outstanding Board and CEO who have built an organisation aligned around their purpose.
We are passionate about the work TFA does and have been proud to support them over the last three years. Their focus on education as the lever to create social equality and opportunity for all Australians aligns deeply to the purpose of the TDM foundation.
Over 202 schools have partnered with TFA, and the growth of this year on year speaks to the scalability of their model. With over 300,000 students across ages and locations positively impacted since inception of TFA 11 years ago, it is clear the organisation are laser focused on not only on delivering outcomes but measuring them as well. Importantly, their impact has a long tail, with 84% of TFA cohort members stay on in the education system after their two year placement.
